Are there legitimate free government grants for working single mothers?

parenting single mother
Most of the websites I’ve visited seem to be scams asking you to purchase their book and information. I believe if there are grants out there, no one should have to pay for this information or to apply. If you know of any legitamit free grant programs for single parents, single mothers, teachers, low income home owners, etc….please let me know.
I am a single mother with 2 children solely supporting our household on a full time low income budget. (TSS worker) Paying bills and the mortgage has become unbearable due to the courts terminating the support I use to receive for my daughter. Her father could afford a corrupt lawyer using her support payments, and I had to go bankrupt. I also qualify and am presently receiving food stamps and other low income help from utility companies, school, etc. My other child’s father is in and out of drug rehabs and prison, so getting support from him via the court system has been a joke for the past 14 yrs. Please help if you can. Thanks so much. :

Can politicians balance mid class family budget?

family budgeting
I am curious. If we set Bush, Obama and McCain down (without advisors) with a gross annual income of $60,000 for an average family with two children, would they be able to pay all the bills? They would have to include mortgage (or rent), utilities, food, healthcare taken out of the paychecks, parents’ college loans, children’s college savings, car loans, car and home insurance and parents’ retirement funds. I am asking because I really don’t think that these millionaires have the slightest idea of what it takes an average american family to survive. If they did, they would help us.

Share ideas on family budgeting system?

family budgeting
We are trying to set a family budget system that we can stick to without much additional time. We know how to set up our budget, but the tricky part is sticking to it, mainly for the miscellaneous items which are not fixed (groceries, trips to Target, Home Depot, etc….). We have control over our fixed expenses (mortgage, auto, insurance, phone, credit cards, etc…). But each month we are amazed at how much we spend on “other”. We use our debit cards for everything and have considered maybe the cash system for certain items like groceries, entertainment, ect. Any ideas or suggestions based on your experience of what works and doesn’t.

fyi…we have two littles one in the house so our time is limited and really dont want to use an online system or Quicken or something that requires alot of extra time inputing, categorizing, etc..

How do I get started on a family budget for monthly expenses?

family budgeting
I have a budget plan that I would like to stick to, but I don’t know how to go about starting it. Currently we live very paycheck to paycheck and don’t have a “cushion” at all. My husband and I are paid every two weeks, on different days. All my bills are due on different days throughout the month. How can I realistically start my budget?? If I have a mortgage and car payments due on the 1st of the month but I am not paid until the 7th or 8th how do I make those payments? I just can’t seem to get it started, but I really want to..because it will help out in the long run. We have tons of money that just *disappears* right now and the budget will help. Suggestions????? Thanks!

Who pays for the divorce: husband, wife, largest income holder, person who files, shared?

marriage consultation
We were married 10/12/03. Without warning last May, my husband stated he loved me but was not in love with me and four hours later moved back with his parents at the age of 35. He admitted his own fault, willingness to give up everything, agreed to pay for the first on the mortgage; in other words he felt guilty and he did not want me to suffer because of his choice and unwillingness to marriage counsel ling. Now that I am asking for alimony because we are losing the house that I am living in do to his not paying his prior verbal agreement of the first and I cannot afford to rent with my salary alone, he got a consultation by an attorney telling him that he was not legally responsible for alimony because of our short marriage. Is this true? Another counsel statement was that I would be responsible for half of the legal fee. Is this true?
