Are there legitimate free government grants for working single mothers?

parenting single mother
Most of the websites I’ve visited seem to be scams asking you to purchase their book and information. I believe if there are grants out there, no one should have to pay for this information or to apply. If you know of any legitamit free grant programs for single parents, single mothers, teachers, low income home owners, etc….please let me know.
I am a single mother with 2 children solely supporting our household on a full time low income budget. (TSS worker) Paying bills and the mortgage has become unbearable due to the courts terminating the support I use to receive for my daughter. Her father could afford a corrupt lawyer using her support payments, and I had to go bankrupt. I also qualify and am presently receiving food stamps and other low income help from utility companies, school, etc. My other child’s father is in and out of drug rehabs and prison, so getting support from him via the court system has been a joke for the past 14 yrs. Please help if you can. Thanks so much. :

What do social conservatives think about having a working mom on the Republican ticket?

working mom
For years, the social conservatives have looked down upon working mothers because they felt the husband should be the one working while the mother should be at home raising the kids. So where’s the criticism of Sarah Palin for her career choices by the social conservatives?

What possibly makes Sarah Palin a feminist?

How can Republicans possibly claim that Palin is a feminist? Having a vagina doesn’t mean someone is a feminist. I think it’s pretty cool that there is a woman on a major political party ticket, but she is not a feminist in any way.

She doesn’t support the ERA, or the right to choose, or Equal Pay. She cut funding for a local shelter in Alaska for pregnant teens, during her tenure. Also, there’s been a lot of talk about the fact that she’s a working mom, which we think is awesome. More power to you if you can balance raising your children with a high-powered career. However, it’s not exactly feminist that she’s not supported other working mothers. She’s on the ticket with John McCain, who supports businesses’ right to discriminate on the basis of gender. Who opposed increased funding for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. And who also supported cuts to the Family and Medical Leave Act — he was not a strong ally of this program, which is key for working mothers.
She is benefiting from feminism, but is not one herself.
Why does having a vagina make her a feminist? Does that mean Anne Coulter is a feminist? Since I have two bucks, does that make me an investment banker? I can write; hey, I’m like Shakespeare!

Would the equality of power for women, lead them to making better decisions for their own (family’s) survival?

women career family education
If the generalized low self-esteem of women is directly or remotely attributed to the powerlessness many realistically feel in society, would having more power lead them to making better decisions?
1. In the relationships they build with men (providing a lower incidence of abuse)
2. By having greater opportunities for independence through financial security:
*>A. From better jobs with real security and increased pay.
*>B. From better childcare for working mothers.
*>C. From the likely increase in children’s health services.
3. Their available selection of careers and education.

In what ways can you see the lives of women made better through better opportunities?
